Welcome to the 4th International Lipidomics Society Conference, welcome to Madrid.  
This year marks a special milestone for our society, we are celebrating the conference at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal-IRYCIS one of the top healthcare institutions in Spain and the European Union, emphasizing the flourishing application of lipidomics in health and disease.  
Together, we will be having an exciting time learning from best experts in the field about the hot topics in lipidomics. From the advances involved in lipid detection and quantification by mass spectrometry and the emerging methods allowing the imaging of lipids in cells and tissues, to the role of sphingolipids and its application in clinics. We will also cover the challenges involved in the integration of lipidomic workflows in human epidemiology, nutrition, microbiology and many other hot topics related with the fascinating, but still enigmatic role of lipids. 
Looking forward to the next decade, our goal is to advance lipidomic into clinical applications. The symposium will include special workshop sessions aiming at this goal, with joint sessions that bring together clinicians, scientists, and industry representatives to identify unmet clinical needs.  
Madrid, a city rich in history and culture, offers a splendid backdrop for our congress. The city's vibrant atmosphere, from its lively streets to the enchanting Austrias’ old town, creates an inspiring setting for intellectual exchange and collaboration.
